Our church was settled more than 200 years ago by families from Rhode Island in what was known in 1804 as "Western Wild in the towns of Rome and Verona, in Central New York." They had a trailblazing heart and a pioneering vision to make a difference for their families, their faith and their future. Today that same heart and vision permeates our life as a church!
Recent ways that we are expressing that heart and vision include:
- formalizing our relationship with Abiding Love in Rome as a branch church.
- exploring new ways to reach out to new people, especially children and youth
- Worshiping on the Sabbath Day to keep it Holy.
- our new website, satellite and audio-visual ministries. (Go to www.ccn.tv for satellite broadcast information from Church Communication Network.)
The Verona Seventh Day Baptist Church is a family oriented church located centrally between Rome and Oneida to our north and south (just off of Rt. 365) and between Utica and Syracuse to our east and west (just off of I-90). We're evangelical, Baptist and worship on God's Sabbath, the seventh day of the week (Saturday), with a blending of contemporary and traditional styles.
We invite you to come and discover firsthand all that makes us a church that's making a difference through the worship of our God, the warmth of our "family", the work of our ministry, the Word that we build upon, and the witness of our faith in Christ for salvation and our following of Christ regarding His Sabbath.
Why do we worship on Saturday you ask? Well, because in the Bible from the Ten Commandments or the book of Exodus it clearly says and states "Honor the Sabbath and keep it Holy." Sunday was made by mankind not God. We worship on the Sabbath day because that's when God rested from working. We believe that Sabbath is a day of rest, worship, and time with God.

Church Services start on Saturdays at 10:00 AM. After the sermon there is coffee and refreshments in the Fellowship Hall where you can socialize and fellowship. Then when the lights flicker at 11:30 AM Sabbath school starts. There is Sabbath school for the following. Kids, Youth, Women, and men and women. While Sabbath School is in effect the nursery is still wide open. At 12:00 PM Sabbath School ends and we all go home to enjoy the rest of our Sabbath.
